Elections should be conducted effectively in the accordance with provisions of the Election Commission: Ronald Rose
Hyderabad, October 20: District Election Officer, GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose has said that elections should be conducted effectively as per the rules of the Election Commission. Participated in the training program of sectoral officers organized at Banjara Bhavan in Banjara Hills on Friday.
On this occasion, the election officer said that one sectoral officer has been appointed for every ten to 12 polling stations. The sectoral officers visited each polling station three times in their jurisdiction and said that they should take advance measures to ensure that ramps, drinking water, fans, lights, internet, sockets, toilets and other facilities are available as part of the AMF (minimum requirements) in the respective polling stations. He said that a day will be allotted to the polling staff participating in the election and they will be given postal ballot and they will receive the postal ballot on the same day. In this election, the Central Election Commission has given flexibility to women polling staff to report at the polling station assigned to them at 5 am on the polling day. Sectoral officers should have the information of the polling staff in the polling stations under their jurisdiction. He said that the sectoral officers will have magisterial powers a week before the polling, so that action will be taken against those who disturb the elections. He said that a route map should be made and ready for the polling centers. He said that the BLOs will distribute voter slips after November 10. This time, new voter related information will be pasted in the form of stickers to every house, he said. He said that if any problem arises in the polling stations, the sectoral officials should solve the problem. He said that the presiding officers should provide information to the sectoral officers on the performance of EVMs. He said that they will soon create awareness about the commissioning of EVMs. He said that a mock poll should be conducted before the polling day and steps should be taken to ensure that all those standing in the queue vote after the polling time. He said that on the polling day mock poll report, voter turn out report and other reports will be submitted to the DEO by the presiding officer to the sectoral officer.
Deputy DEO Anudeep Durishetti said that the sectoral officers will work like wardens for the district missionary, RO and polling booth staff. Sectoral officers should plan to visit the polling centers under their jurisdiction in an hour to one and a half hours on the polling day. He said that the sectoral officials should guide the installation of new EVMs in the respective polling centers on the polling day if there is a technical problem. During the mock polling, steps should be taken to cast 50 votes for each candidate and nota. He said that awareness was created about problematic polling centers in the earlier training programs.
Hyderabad DRO, Yakatpura RO Venkatachari said… The sectoral officials were thoroughly explained about the measures to be taken on pre-poll, poll eve and poll day days. He said that measures should be taken on vulnerable mapping, voter awareness, minimum facilities as part of pre-poll, agents of political parties should be present as part of poll eve, election material, security personnel, enforcement of law and mock poll should be conducted in the presence of political party agents on poll day. He said that he will have to work on EVM, VV pat replacement, voter registration percentage and reports. He said that more than 1500 voters in the polling centers should be made aware about Agjalari polling centers. He said that steps should be taken by the concerned RO and BLO to provide parking facilities near the polling centers. He said that those whose names are registered in the final voter’s list published on October 4 and also in the supplementary voter’s list are entitled to vote.
He said that he should have the phone numbers of political party agents. There should be no offices of political parties within 200 meters of the polling station. He said that action should be taken by MCC without any campaign on polling day. The campaign should be seen to be between 6 AM and 10 PM. He said that the vehicle permission, de-facement, free bees and other information of political party representatives should be examined. He said that they can re-check their name in the voter list once again and if their name is not there, they can register their vote till 31st of this month. He said that special facilities are being provided for women, senior citizens and the disabled in the polling centers. He said that webcasting will be conducted in the presence of micro observers in problematic polling stations. He said that if there is any problem in EVM, Ballot Unit and Control Unit, steps should be taken to change the related materials.
