Environment Protection Needs Vigilantes: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi

Hyderabad, August 07: GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi said that it is everyone’s responsibility to protect the environment. He called upon everyone to become Kankan devotees to provide clean air to future generations.

Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi participated in the program organized at Jubilee Hills Circle Lotus Fund and planted saplings as part of the cleanliness-green program.

On this occasion, she said… everyone should protect the environment planted with plants. By planting saplings, we will provide pollution-free clean air to the previous generations. He said that it is the trees that provide the vital gases, the need to protect them is on everyone. She said that they are planting saplings on a large scale at 25 ponds in the city today. He said that planting saplings will help a lot instead of alienating ponds.

He explained that large-scale planting of saplings is being done in the central median, avenues, parks, around ponds, empty spaces, and government institutions to make it pleasant for the people of the city. He explained that they are distributing homestead plants to the people. She reminded that the city of Hyderabad has received the Green City Award at the global level. They want to make the city clean and tidy. Everyone is advised to keep their house and surroundings clean.

It is stated that mosquitoes can be prevented by cleanliness and diseases spread by mosquitoes can be controlled. The students are advised to make the elders in their homes aware of cleanliness and also to make them aware of planting saplings. Everyone is requested to cooperate to maintain the beautification and cleanliness of the city.

Earlier, Mayor Vijayalakshmi planted saplings in Lotus Pond Park along with students and residents. Gambusia fish were released in the pond. Plants were distributed to Jubilee Hills colonists, students to put in their houses.

On the 3rd day as part of the cleanliness and greening program, Additional Commissioner Lakes Sivakumar Naidu along with EE Shankar Rao planted saplings at Sail Annex Hotel. Speaking on this occasion, the Additional Commissioner said that instead of alienating the ponds, they are planting saplings on a large scale at the ponds. Additional Commissioner Sivakumar Naidu said that garbage was collected around the ponds and GVPs were removed during this program.
