Hyderabad, Feb 17 (Maxim News): The High Court has issued notices to the government to file a counter-argument stating its arguments in the petitions filed on the merger of municipalities in the state. It has sought to inform about the procedure followed for the merger of municipalities. It has ordered an explanation on the merger of 26 municipalities near the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. Counters with detailed details have been filed on the merger of 26 municipalities around GHMC.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin heard two petitions filed by R. Laxman of Raviriyala, Takuguda mandal, Rangareddy district, challenging the amendments brought by the government to the Municipal Act to facilitate the merger of municipalities. Counters have been filed on the merger of municipalities in GHMC. The municipal department has been ordered to this extent. The hearing has been adjourned to March 24. (Maxim News)
