Fake Lady Doctor Arrested For Hospital Gold Thefts In Hyderabad
Hyderabad, Mar 15 (Maxim News): Police detained a woman who allegedly posed as a doctor and stole gold ornaments from patients in city hospitals.
The accused reportedly committed thefts in three hospitals within one week.
Police identified the suspect as Gundla Sirisha, aged 25, from Nawabpet mandal of Vikarabad district.
She completed a Pharm D course in the past. However, investigators said she later turned to crime for money.
According to police sources, she wore a white coat and carried a stethoscope. She then entered reputed hospitals by posing as a doctor. She also moved freely inside wards without raising suspicion.
Officials said she collected patient details from reception counters. She then identified patients who wore heavy gold jewellery. Moreover, she targeted patients who stayed alone without attendants.
Police said Sirisha spoke to selected patients and gained their confidence. She then administered sedatives under the pretext of treatment. After the patients lost consciousness, she allegedly stole their gold ornaments.
On March 10, she reportedly targeted a patient named Aruna at a private hospital in Nallagandla. Police said she administered drugs and stole about 15 tolas of gold. The stolen jewellery was worth about Rs 24 lakh.
On March 11, she allegedly committed another theft at a private hospital in Secunderabad. Police said she targeted a patient named Sudha Rani. She reportedly escaped with around 10 tolas of gold in that case.
Police treated the incidents as a serious challenge. Therefore, they analysed CCTV footage from the hospitals. Investigators tracked her movements through surveillance cameras.
Officials later detained her based on technical evidence. During questioning, police learned about her alleged involvement in earlier thefts. Officers are now verifying her possible role in other similar cases.
Police said the investigation continues. They are also trying to recover the stolen gold. Authorities said they will file further charges based on the findings. The accused remains under police interrogation. (Maxim News)
