The Cauvery basin farmers stagedprotest in both the districts following release of water from bothKrishnaraja Sagar (KRS) and Kabini Reservoirs to Tamil Nadueven as the inflow has just started.
In Mandya, alleging that the state government was estinely releasing Cauvery water from the KRS to Tamil Nadu even before thedam become full, farmers blocked the Mysuru-Bengaluru highway for some time resulting vehicles being stranded. The protesters were however evicted by the police who restored the traffic. Security was tightened a long the highway to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
