Hyderabad: Telangana Police launched an investigation following a tragic accident at RTC Cross Roads–VST Junction on Tuesday morning that left a teenage girl dead and two of her family members seriously injured. The incident has brought road safety and accident response back into public focus.
According to initial reports, Fatima from Bandlaguda was riding a scooter toward Ramnagar with her children, Ibrahim and 16-year-old Mehak. As they crossed the RTC Cross Roads–VST Junction, a fire truck allegedly collided with their two-wheeler. The impact proved fatal, as the family’s scooter fell under the rear tyre of the fire truck.
Mehak died instantly due to injuries sustained in the crash. Her mother, Fatima, and brother, Ibrahim, suffered severe injuries. Chikkadpally police responded promptly, registering a case and moving the injured to Gandhi Hospital for urgent medical attention. Officers have started a detailed investigation to determine the precise sequence of events and the cause of the accident.
Meanwhile, the incident has ignited concerns about traffic management and vehicle oversight in busy city zones. The Telangana government has often emphasized that road safety and rapid emergency responses are vital, especially where emergency vehicles, such as fire trucks, are concerned. However, the tragedy shows there are still gaps in enforcing these measures, especially when the lives of vulnerable road users are at stake.
Officials have assured the public of a transparent probe by the Telangana Police into this accident. The authorities also called for adherence to traffic rules and vigilance on the roads to avoid further losses. Later updates from the ongoing investigation are expected to clarify the circumstances and assign accountability for the tragic loss suffered by the Bandlaguda family.
