Film-Makers Asked To Produce Films On Rural Issues
Hyderabad, Nov.20 (Maxim News): National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR) hosted the 4th National Film Festival on Rural Development on Wednesday on the Institute’s 61st Foundation Day. The event was aimed at inspiring young filmmakers to showcase their talent and promote films based on rural issues and document films on rural development.
Speaking on the occasion, the institute Deputy Director General Radhika Rastogi said movies strike an emotional note with audiences across the globe. Recalling the instance of a woman sarpanch, who had carried out mosquito eradication in her village and challenged to pay Rs 1,000 to anyone who could find a mosquito in the village, Radhika Rastogi said movies should be made based on such interesting happenings.
The institute’s Director General Dr. W.R. Reddy said despite sarpanches in India doing phenomenal work, seldom the stories of such works reach media and others across the country. Chief guest Additional DG of Doordarshan, South Zone Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay said Doordarshan will air all the award-winning movies and other entries, if the producers gave their consent. (Maxim News)
