Jayashankar Bhupalapalli/Hyderabad, Jan 28 (Maxim News) A major fire accident occurred in the KTK-5 mine of Singareni in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district . It is understood that the fire spread to the lamp room of the workers entering the mine, causing severe property damage.
According to preliminary information from the authorities, a short circuit is believed to be the main cause of the accident. The fire broke out due to electrical fluctuations at the battery charging points in the lamp room. It spread throughout the room in no time.
The mine staff and workers were immediately alerted during the accident. Petrol was also stored near the lamp room. The staff, who noticed the fire spreading, immediately moved the petrol cans out, risking their lives. If the petrol storage had caught fire, it would have led to a huge explosion and destroyed the entire surface area of the mine, the workers said.
Although there was no loss of life in the fire, the Singareni company suffered heavy property damage. Singareni officials revealed that about 1,500 mining lamps (Cap Lamps) were burnt in the fire. Officials estimated that their value is around Rs. 50 lakhs.
A lamp is very useful for every worker in Singareni. These lamps are mandatory when going into dark mines. With 1,500 lamps burning out, there is a possibility of a shortage of lamps for the next shift workers. This may also have some impact on coal production. The workers have demanded that some strict measures be taken to prevent such accidents from recurring in the mining sector. They suspect that a short circuit may have occurred due to problems in the wiring in the lamp rooms. They want the authorities to conduct a full investigation into the incident and take action against those responsible. (Maxim News)
