First Phase Of Panchayat Polling Has Ended: Counting To Begin Shortly
Hyderabad, Dec 11 (Maxim News): The first phase of polling across the state has ended. The polling, which began at 7 am on Wednesday, ended at 1 pm. Officials are providing an opportunity to voters who were in the queue till 1 pm at many places to cast their votes. The counting will begin at 2 pm. The results of the polling will be announced by night and the sub-sarpanch elections will be held. Barring isolated incidents, the polling proceeded peacefully. Collectors and senior police officials supervised the polling.
In the first phase, notifications were issued for 4,236 sarpanch posts. Out of these, 396 sarpanch posts and 9,633 ward posts were unanimously filled. Polling was held for the remaining 3,834 sarpanch posts. 12,960 candidates are in the fray. The SEC Commissioner said that 93,905 personnel have been appointed for the panchayat elections to be held in three phases.
