FMG Interns Resume Telangana Protest | Hyderabad, Nov. 4: More than 600 Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) interns resumed their statewide protest in Telangana on Wednesday. They are demanding stipend parity with Indian Medical Graduate interns.
The interns, posted at peripheral government medical colleges and hospitals, resumed their agitation after a 10 day break.
They had suspended their protest from October 24 to November 3. This followed assurances from Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha and senior health officials.
However, the interns said authorities had not issued any official written order despite several rounds of discussions. Therefore, they decided to resume their peaceful demonstrations.
FMG Interns Resume Telangana Protest | FMG Interns Demand ₹29,792 Monthly Stipend
The protesting interns have raised three major demands. First, they want a monthly stipend of ₹29,792, equal to that of Indian Medical Graduate interns.
Second, they are demanding payment of all eligible pending stipend arrears from January 2026. Third, they want protection against victimisation, punitive action and arbitrary extensions of their internship.
FMG representatives said they had repeatedly followed up with health authorities. They also attended meetings where the Health Minister sought additional time to discuss their demands with the Chief Minister.
However, the government has not issued a formal circular or Government Order so far, they said.
The association maintained that FMG interns perform clinical duties equivalent to their Indian counterparts. Therefore, they questioned the continued difference in stipend payments.
The medical graduates, who completed their MBBS courses abroad, have appealed to the Health Minister for immediate intervention. They are seeking a written resolution to their demands.
