Former Speaker Suresh Reddy Joins TRS
Hyderabad, Sept.7 (Maxim News): Senior Congress leader and former Assembly Speaker, K. R. Suresh Reddy on Friday announced his decision to join the TRS not for any “political gains” but to be part of the “silent revolution” for the progress and development of Telangana State.
The sudden and unexpected turn of events in the political scenario, at a time when the State is gearing up for elections after the Assembly was dissolved on Thursday, was the outcome of a meeting of IT Minister K. T. Rama Rao had with Suresh Reddy at the latter’s residence this morning.
The Advisor to the State Government, G. Vivekanand, TRS nominees for the ensuing polls A. Jeevan Reddy and Prashanth Reddy from Armoor and Balkonda constituencies respectively were also present during the meeting between KTR and Suresh Reddy.
Speaking to the media after the meeting KTR said that Suresh Reddy, a senior and experienced political leader had won the hearts of all political parties and the people at large for the dignified manner in which he had conducted the Assembly proceedings in the erstwhile undivided Andhra Pradesh. He has good rapport with KCR as both knew each other and good friends since 1989.
KTR further explained that taking into view the hard work , good image and reputation earned by Suresh Reddy, KCR felt that the services of such leaders for the progress and development of the state would go a long way and thus extended an invitation to him to be part of TRS. Taking into view the high office and position held by Suresh Reddy, he would be accordingly accommodated and bestowed with the position he deserved since the already the list of nominees in Nizamabad district has been already announced.
Suresh Reddy said that as a sincere and committed political leader he had been striving for the betterment of the poor and development of backward villages. I have also directly and indirectly strived during my political career for the cause of a separate Telangana state. Since I have seen how since 2014 Telangana has been marching forward with various welfare and developmental activities, he added.
Stating that numerous reports have appeared regarding the state’s fast economic growth under the able leadership and guidance of KCR, Suresh Reddy felt that there is still lot of scope for improvement in this direction, This is a critical juncture to ensure that the growth and progress in all fields should speeded up without any hurdles. When KCR invited me to part of these developmental activities for the betterment of poor and backward classes, I had agreed, he said and added he would be happy to be see that these efforts would see its logical conclusion.
Reiterating that he was not aspiring for any power or position or for any political gains, Suresh Reddy said his decision to accept the invitation of KCR to join TRS was mainly to be part of the activities for the progress of the state. When reminded that the Congress was gearing up to dethrone the TRS in the ensuing elections, he quipped “ When the car is speeding in the right direction, where is the need for changing the driver”.
It might be mentioned here that Suresh had earlier got elected from Balkonda constituency and later contested from Armoor constituency but faced defeat. Though there were speculations that he might again enter the poll fray as a Congress candidate from either Balkonda or Armoor. However in an unexpected and sudden turn of events, he decided to switch loyalty to TRS giving a jolt to the Congress. (Maxim News).
