Former Union Minister Balaram Naik Disqualified For 3 Years

Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Balaram Naik has been disqualified by the Election Commission. He was barred from contesting in the elections for three years. Balaram Naik, who contested from Mahabubabad in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, did not submit the details of election expenses to the Central Electoral Commission within the stipulated time. CEC took it seriously and it led to his disqualification.

Balaram Naik was a minister in the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s cabinet in 2009. After that he was not active in direct politics.
