Formula E Scam: KTR Faces ACB Probe Over ₹55 Crore Fund Irregularities

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against BRS leader and former minister K.T. Rama Rao in connection with alleged irregularities during the Formula E race held in Hyderabad in February 2023.

This follows the ACB seeking Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s nod to investigate K.T. Rama Rao for allegedly directing Rs 55 crore to race organizers through verbal orders, bypassing procedures. The Governor approved the request on 13 December, allowing the ACB to proceed with the investigation.

The ACB inquiry stems from a complaint filed by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department, which accused K.T Rama Rao and other officials of financial impropriety. Former MAUD secretary Arvind Kumar admitted to transferring the funds on Rao’s directives, and as is learned was to promote Hyderabad’s global image.
