Formula-E Scam Row Over Davos Greenko Meetings

  • Formula-E Scam claims clash with Davos Greenko talks

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, widely known as KTR, accused the Congress government of following double standards over the Formula-E issue and its meetings with Greenko in Davos. He alleged that while the Congress calls the Formula-E issue in Hyderabad a “scam,” the same government is engaging with Greenko at an international forum. Therefore, he said the government must answer serious questions on its intent and credibility.

Speaking during an informal media interaction at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said the Congress government is sending mixed signals to the public. He questioned why the government chose to meet Greenko in Davos after branding the issue a scam at home. “On one hand they accuse us of wrongdoing, and on the other they sit across the table with the same company in Davos. Are agreements being signed there? Are backroom deals being discussed?” he asked.

KTR also questioned whether the government was trying to shield Greenko or apply pressure for financial gains. He asked whether the Congress was “carrying bags” to protect the company or issuing threats to withdraw cases. Meanwhile, he pointed out that ministers met several people in Davos, including an Andhra Pradesh BJP MP, and said such meetings raised further doubts about the government’s approach.

Turning to municipal elections, KTR said the BRS is fully prepared for the polls. He said the removal of districts and the Congress party’s failure to keep its promises will be key issues in the campaign. He warned that voting for Congress would mean approving the scrapping of districts. According to him, people in newly created districts are already anxious about this outcome.

KTR said the party will appoint in charges municipality wise, drawing leaders from the respective united districts. He added that the list would be announced within a day or two. Preparatory meetings have been completed at the district level. Election material is ready, and the party will select candidates based on surveys and local feedback. He also said local leaders will lead the campaign and focus on local issues.

Referring to earlier elections, KTR said winning 40 per cent of sarpanch seats showed the organisational strength of the BRS. He also spoke about programmes like Basti Bata, saying the party is explaining past achievements, stalled works, and current public issues. On the Future City proposal, he questioned its impact on the twin cities and demanded answers from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He also renewed his demand for a judicial inquiry into Singareni.
