Hyderabad: Fire Director General Vikram Singh Mann said a short circuit was the primary cause of the fire at the Nampally Forensic Science Laboratory office. He shared this after inspecting the site of the incident on Saturday, February 7. The inspection followed a major fire that broke out at the FSL office earlier the same day.

According to the information provided, a fire alert reached the department at 10.20 am on Saturday. Fire engines stationed near the Assembly responded immediately. Firefighters reached the Nampally FSL office without delay. They managed to bring the blaze under control in a short time. Officials then began a preliminary assessment to understand how the fire started and what damage it caused.

Meanwhile, Fire DG Vikram Singh Mann visited the FSL office along with Director of Fire Services Narayana. During the inspection, he inquired in detail about the cause of the accident. He said officials suspect the fire broke out in a switchboard located near the MCB on the first floor of the FSL office. He added that preliminary findings confirm the fire was caused by a short circuit.

He also stated that computers and hard disks kept in the laboratory were burnt in the fire. However, officials did not provide further details about the extent of the damage. The focus remained on identifying the cause and preventing similar incidents in the future.

Later, Vikram Singh Mann said the department would conduct fire safety inspections in all government offices following this incident. He said the risk of fire accidents increases with the arrival of summer. Therefore, fire department teams are on alert across the city. He added that inspections would also cover residential and commercial buildings to ensure safety measures are in place.
