Gaddar Awards: Naga Chaitanya, Rashmika Mandanna Win
Hyderabad: Celebrations began in the film industry after the state government announced the Gaddar Awards. The announcement drew strong attention because two films related to Telangana, Raju Weds Rambai and Dandora, were declared winners. The awards also recognized major performances by actors linked to popular Telugu cinema.
The Gaddar Awards honored actors and films connected to regional stories. Yuvasamrat Akkineni Naga Chaitanya won the Best Actor award for his role in the film Thandel. Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna received the Best Actress award for her performance in The Girlfriend.
Both films are produced by the well known production company Geetha Arts. The recognition therefore brought attention not only to the actors but also to the production house behind the projects.
Gaddar Awards Highlight Films Thandel and The Girlfriend
The film Thandel is based on the lives of fishermen. Director Chandu Mondeti made the film by combining patriotism with a love story. The narrative also shows the challenges fishermen face after going into the sea for fishing.
In the film, Naga Chaitanya plays the role of a fisherman named Raju. He delivered strong action scenes and fights in the story. Meanwhile, natural actress Sai Pallavi impressed audiences with her performance. Both actors delivered dialogues in the Srikakulam dialect effectively.
The story of Thandel is set around events from 2018. Fishermen from Srikakulam went fishing in Gujarat. However, they accidentally crossed the Pakistani border in the sea. Pakistani forces captured them and held them in jail for several months.
Later, the fishermen returned to India after facing torture in a Pakistani prison. Fisherman Raju was one among them. The film Thandel is based on this real life story.
Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna won the Gaddar Award for Best Actress for the film The Girlfriend. The recognition came soon after her marriage to Vijay Deverakonda on February 26. It is notable that she received the prestigious Telangana award within ten days of the marriage announcement.
The Gaddar Awards announcement has therefore triggered celebrations in the film industry. The awards also highlighted films connected to Telangana themes and real life stories.
