Ganga Kaveri Express Train looted
Four passengers were injured when armed dacoits attacked the Chapra bound Ganga-Kaveri express train in Manikpur area of the district on Monday morning.
GRP sources here said that the super fast train coming from Chennai, was attacked by the dacoits after pulling the alarm chain of the train between Panhai and Dhaubra stations at around 0300 hours.
Around 12 dacoits attacked the passengers of air-condition and sleeper class coaches and looted them on gun point. When some passengers objected, they were thrashed and four stabbed by the criminals, sources said.
The injured were admitted after given first aid at the Allahabad station. Sources said that the police escort traveling in the train immediately rushed to the spot by the time criminals managed to flee with the looted valuables of the passengers.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (SP) Chitrakoot Manoj Jha along with other senior officials have launched a manhunt to nab the dacoits.
