Two Israeli soldiers and 97 Palestinians have been killed in attacks since the ceasefire agreement was signed. Both countries are accusing each other of violating the peace agreement. At this time, US President Donald Trump has responded to the latest developments.
On Sunday night, while returning from Mar-a-Lago to Washington, a reporter asked US President Donald Trump about the latest developments in Gaza. When asked if he thought the Gaza ceasefire agreement was still in effect, he replied ,”Yes.”
“The Gaza peace deal is not a sham. We want to make sure that the situation with Hamas is very peaceful. But, you know, they are overreacting a little bit. They are shooting in some places. But, it seems that the Hamas leadership has nothing to do with those attacks. Maybe the rebels are committing these kinds of incidents. But anyway, we will resolve this matter. We will deal with it, even if it is tough,” Trump warned gently.
What happened was that Hamas attacked Israel defense forces near Rafah in southern Gaza. Two soldiers were killed in the attack. In response, 19 Palestinians were killed in airstrikes by Israeli forces.
On October 19, an anti-tank missile hit an Israel Defense Forces Engineering vehicle, Two Israeli soldiers were killed in the attack. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took the incident seriously. He said it was the work of Hamas and a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement. He stopped humanitarian aid to Gaza. Moreover, he ordered the army to retaliate with counter attacks.
With this, Israeli forces launched attacks on the city of Rafah in Gaza. in these latest attacks, 19 Palestinians were killed.
