Generate Footsteps Electricity, tell student innovators to the GHMC, Malls, Public Places authorities

Hyderabad: The ongoing three-day maiden exhibition Industrial Innovation and Technology Expo – 2023(IITEX-2023) jointly hosted by the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) and Govt of Telangana is drawing a good crowd.

Several inspiring innovations on display engaged hundreds of visitors who visited the show on Thursday.

Some of the innovations that caught visitors’ attention was a bionic arm that performs gestures just like an original arm. It is voice operated. Unlike the prosthetic arm (artificial ones used to replace natural ones), this is controlled by the electric signals that perform small tasks. It is an innovation of David Raj, a B.Tech Artificial Intelligence & Data Science student from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology. The bionic arm which is an electromechanical device that is attached to the human body attempts to replicate the functionality of a natural arm or hand costs in the West is rupees ten lakhs. The arm that I developed can be made available for just Rs 30,000/- said David Raj.

IIT Madras showcased TROOT, the agri drone. It was developed as part of Ubify Technologies, an IIT Madras incubated startup. We are on a mission to help farmers enhance overall crop health for increased productivity, sustainability, and profitability, its representative said.

Another innovation on display was Made in Telangana Laser Harp. The Laser Harp as most of us know is a light-sensitive musical instrument. It is played by moving hands over laser light sources in order to send commands when a beam is interrupted. These commands can be sent to different electronic devices. Dhawan Surya, two B. Tech EEE students of one of the city Engineering colleges developed the Hyderabad version of Laser Harp for just Rs 5000/- as against Rs 70,000/-market price. It helps overcome some barriers of traditional Laser Harps.

Another innovation was a footstep power generation system by Purna, a first-year B. Tech Electrical student from the city. With my innovation, we can produce power from footpaths, dancing floors, shopping malls, buses, Railway stations, and public parks. The project is designed to be useful in public places where a lot of people keep walking all day. He said that my product can help all these public places generate electricity that they can store and use.

Purna Sai City’s Engineering student has come out with a Hybrid MotorCycle. It can run both on electricity and Petrol. The city has four to five such Hybrid Two-Wheelers, but they were converted by mechanics. This is the only bike converted by a group of students, he said. We have spent about Rs 50,000/- in doing so. We have modified it internally to look like the original petrol bike, unlike some converted using external fittings, he said.

Arhan, D. Ruvan, Sriram, and Pujit have come with motorized bicycles. We have converted traditional bicycles into automatic ones to make commutation affordable and efficient.

Temple Vibes is a strange and different kind of startup founded by Jitendra Badam, which focuses on leveraging the impact of sound on human wellness. Sound has healing power. We as a startup would like to focus on it.

So using this power we conduct Sound Baths, Sound Massage, and Sound Meditation sessions for mental well-being, he disclosed. The sound travels at 340 m/sec in air and it amplifies by 5 times in water. Since the human body consists of 70% fluid, the vibration from the sound instrument penetrates deep into the cellular level and activates the dormant cells, energizing the body complex, he said.

Sound induces deep relaxation, improves memory and concentration, and enhances sleep quality. Temple Vibes displayed several sound-producing tools such as a singing bowl, singing bell, happy drum, Tingsha, etc. My major aim through this expo is to create awareness in the visitors that the power of sound can be used to address the growing

The aim of the IITEX is to boost production through the use of the latest technology & innovations, in the process, boost the economy and help the Atamanirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India said Mr Anil Agarwal, President of FTCCI.
