Samples of ghee from some temples have already been sent for tests. But recently the ghee used in Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam has also been sent for lab test.

When the samples were taken and tested, it was confirmed that the ghee was pure. But should all temples in the state consume ghee from the state-owned Vijaya Dairy? don’t you. That is what the temple officials are thinking.

However, due to allegations of adulteration of ghee used in Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Laddu prasadam, many major temples in Telangana have been ordered to submit ghee samples for testing.

The samples of Vijaya Dairy ghee were tested and the moisture content and fatty acids like oleic acid were within all the limits. Not just one test but many tests were done. It was found that the ghee was of good quality. The test was conducted by the State Food Laboratory, Nacharam, Hyderabad. However, temple officials say that usually tenders are issued and ghee is collected based on it.

Meanwhile, Mother Dairy is supplying ghee to a temple in Nalgonda. The temple authorities say that they are considering whether to continue Vijaya Dairy which has received positive test results or to change it to Mother Dairy. In Yadadri, 100 kg of Pulihora Prasad and 6 kg of Daddojanam Prasad are distributed free of cost to the pilgrims. Additional prasads including pulihora, daddojanam, vada, and laddoos are also sold to the devotees.  (Maxim News)
