GHMC Council Meeting Sparks Clash Between MIM And BJP

Hyderabad, Nov. 25 (Maxim News):  A tense atmosphere gripped the GHMC Council meeting as BJP and AIMIM members clashed over Vande Mataram song.

The session turned noisy within minutes. Members from both parties climbed on chairs and raised slogans.

The Mayor warned them. She said she would send them out with a marshal if they continued. Her warning brought a brief order. Yet the mood stayed heated.

It is to mention here that BJP MP Raghunandan Rao asked the Council to allow singing of Vande Mataram.

Rao said the anthem completed 150 years. The Mayor accepted the request. Mayor also suggested singing Jaya Jayahe Telangana as a tribute to poet Andesri.

To which AIMIM strongly objected. AIMIM members said they would not support the proposal for Vande Mataram song playing.

The hall grew louder when the anthem began. Corporator Of AIMIM, representing Pather Gatti Division Syed Sohail refused to stand.

Several MIM corporators also stayed seated during Vande Mataram and Jaya Jayahe Telangana.

BJP members objected. They said the act insulted the Council. A heated exchange followed. Both sides traded sharp words. The argument rose to a high pitch.

Marshals entered the hall as the clash escalated. The Mayor grew angry. She asked whether members wanted to turn the Council into a street fight.

She urged discipline. She said the city needed solutions, not chaos. Her remarks briefly calmed the room. But the dispute left no space for further discussion.

Officials tried to resume the agenda. Yet constant shouting forced the Mayor to stop the meeting.

The Mayor then adjourned the GHMC Council. Members left the hall while arguing. Staff said they will announce a new meeting date soon. They added that order must improve. They also said disruptions slow work on civic issues.
