According to the approved plan, each corporator division will receive Rs 2 crore. The proposal divides the amount into two parts. One crore rupees will go directly to works proposed by the corporator. Meanwhile, the other one crore rupees will be allotted to works suggested by the corporator but taken up with the approval of the district in charge minister. This structure, officials noted, allows faster decisions at the division level while ensuring coordinated planning.

The GHMC currently has 150 divisions. Therefore, the total allocation marks a significant funding push for civic projects. The corporation expects that the plan will help address issues related to roads, drains, lighting and other essential public services. The general meeting discussed the proposal in detail and approved it with the aim of improving service delivery. Officials stated that the funding will help strengthen ongoing work and support new projects in underserved areas.

She also said the funds will help corporators plan work based on local needs. The mayor added that the approval reflects the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure.

Later, officials said the GHMC will prepare guidelines for the smooth use of the new funds. They also said the corporation will monitor progress in all divisions. Therefore, the new allocation is expected to create a structured approach to civic development. The GHMC plans to begin work under the new fund soon.
