GHMC electrical wing AE suspended for negligence

Hyderabad: An assistant engineer of GHMC attached to electric wing was suspended on charges of negligence by Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy here.

Curiously, it was Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, who lodged a complaint, on myghmc app stating that a streetlight was not functioning on the Tank Bund on February 10. The Commissioner was coming to the office after attending a function at Hotel Mariott and noticed it. The complaint received through GHMC app should be resolved within 24 hours. But AE Ramesh contacted the complainant on phone after three days without knowing that the complainant was the Commissioner himself.

When Ramesh sought more information about the complainant, the commissioner was aghast and revealed his identity and wanted to know the reason for delay in not attending the complaint. Though the AE explained that he was on leave for two days, the Commissioner said emergency complaint should be tackled immediately and issued orders suspending Ramesh for his negligence of duty.

The Commissioner said the GHMC was attending to complaints immediately after receiving them through its app and most of the problems related to operation and maintenance wings. He said so far, they have received 30,131 complaints through GHMC app of which 29,162 have been attended to and only nine complaints were not related to the GHMC.
