GHMC is debt ridden: Katragadda Prasoona

Hyderabad, Aug.3 (Maxim News): Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TTDP) leader Katragadda Prasoona today alleged that the biggest civic body of the state GHMC was completely debt ridden and added that it was going towards bankruptcy.

She said that she was pained to see the corporation, which once flourished as a surplus income body, in such a pathetic financial condition now. Stating that the corporation had worked wonderfully during the rule of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh State Nara Chandrababu Naidu, she said that the composition had plunged into a debt trap in the the TRS party rule now. Reminding that the corporation had ₹800 crore as fixed deposits during the TDP rule, she alleged that the amount of the fixed deposits were siphoned off now by the present rulers .

She said that the buildings owned by state and central government have arrears running into crores of rupees in the form of property tax. She wondered as to how the corporation would be transformed into a global city of it was pushed into the debt trap. She alleged that the corporation which is contributing 60 percent of the state government’s income, was being destroyed now. Prasoona said that there was no proper sanitation in the state capital and added that several houses of the city were inundating whenever it received rains. (Maxim News)
