In view of growing concerns over public safety, visual clutter and violations of municipal regulations, the GHMC has initiated a special enforcement drive to systematically identify and remove unauthorised advertisement elements within its jurisdiction. As part of the ongoing drive, several illegal hoardings, banners and other unauthorised advertisement structures have already been dismantled.

Mr. Karnan said the enforcement action would be carried out in a phased and sustained manner across all GHMC limits to ensure urban orderliness, road safety and strict compliance with the prescribed advertisement norms. To strengthen the enforcement mechanism, the GHMC is also in the process of constituting a dedicated enforcement team exclusively to monitor, regulate and take action against unauthorised advertisements.
