GHMC Sanitation Worker Dies In Road Mishap

Hyderabad: GHMC sanitation worker died after being mowed down by an unidentified vehicle at Ameerpet here on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as K Bharathamma, a resident of Shivaji Nagar in Manikonda, and working as a sweeper at Ameerpet.
According to the police, the incident is suspected to have occurred around 6 am when Bharathamma was crossing the road opposite Mangalya showroom in Ameerpet and an unidentified vehicle was driven in a rash and negligent manner hit her.
“She suffered grievous injuries and died on the spot. The vehicle driver fled from the spot after the incident,” said an official.
Her colleagues who were present there rushed to her rescue, but in vain as she had died by then. Arjun Kumar, the GHMC supervisor of the Ameerpet area, informed Bharathamma’s son Narender over the phone.
Based on a complaint from Narender, the Punjagutta police booked a case and have taken up an investigation. The body was handed over to the family after an autopsy at the Osmania General Hospital morgue later in the day.
