A technical committee chaired by the Chief City Planner and included ACPs of town planning, was set up to prepare division-wise maps.

The state government decision to expand the purview had the GHMC area increase from 650 sq km to 2,050 sq km and the population rise from 1.12 crore to 1.34 crore. The delimitation had been carried out by the Centre for Good Governance (CGG).

BRS demand council of members voting on delimitation:

Sanath Nagar BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav argued that the existing infrastructure and staff of the GHMC should have been taken into consideration before delimitation. He demanded voting on the delimitation, a physical survey of each ward and the fixing of boundaries.

BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan opposed the delimitation and enquired as to why the state government approached the CGG for the exercise. AIMIM Malakpet MLA Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala said the delimitation was done to hurt the AIMIM. (Maxim News)
