Srinagar, Oct. 26: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has criticised National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah’s remarks on Kashmir, saying Pakistan is an enemy of both India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad said he respected Abdullah but disagreed with his comments. He also pointed to protests in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), where residents have been demanding their rights, questioning Pakistan’s claim to protect the people of Kashmir.
Ghulam Nabi Azad | Farooq Abdullah’s Kashmir Remarks Trigger Political Reactions
Speaking at a party workers’ meeting in Baramulla on Saturday, Abdullah reportedly said Kashmir was receiving protection because Pakistan had raised the issue on international platforms. He also questioned whether people could expect justice from Delhi.

Azad countered Abdullah’s argument by referring to the situation in PoK. He also said successive governments at the Centre had worked for the development of Jammu and Kashmir since 1947.
Abdullah’s remarks drew strong reactions from BJP leaders in the region. BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur demanded police action against him, while Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Sat Sharma called for a public apology.
Former minister Imran Ansari also criticised Abdullah’s comments, adding to the political debate over Kashmir and Pakistan’s role in the region.
