Give women the DWCRA cash as a rakhi gift, Bandi urges CM KCR
Hyderabad, August 12: Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay wrote an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), urging him to release funds to Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas (DWCRA) groups on the occasion of Rakhi Pournami festival. He faulted the TRS government for weakening DWCRA groups in the last eight years.
Bandi brought to the notice of the CM that Rs 4,000 crore to be paid as interest to Self-Help Groups (SHGs), SERP, and MEPMA are yet to be released.
“In 2021-22 Budget, Telangana government allocated Rs 3,000 crore for payment of interest on loans taken by SHG women groups,” he mentioned and added that funds were not released to SHGs in the current financial year despite earmarking Rs 1,250 crore in the state Budget. The BJP chief said that lakhs of women are eagerly waiting to get interest free loans from banks.
