Godavari River Water Level Rises Gradually At Bhadrachalam; Authorities On Alert
Kothagudem/Hyderabad, July 11: The Godavari River is witnessing a steady rise in water levels at Bhadrachalam, triggered by continuous heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas over the past few days. Officials from the Central Water Commission have confirmed that the water level has climbed from 23.30 feet on Thursday morning to 34 feet by 8 am on Friday.
Although the first warning level is set at 43 feet, authorities are closely monitoring the situation as inflows from key Godavari tributaries — Wainganga, Wardha, and Sabari — have surged due to ongoing monsoon showers.

Despite the increasing water levels in the river, the overall rainfall situation in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district remained normal, with little to no rainfall recorded in most mandals.
Precautionary Measures in Place
District officials have issued advisories to residents, particularly those living in low-lying and flood-prone areas, urging them to remain alert and take necessary precautions. Local authorities are also preparing contingency plans in case the water level approaches the warning threshold.
Godavari Flood Monitoring to Continue
With forecasts indicating more rainfall in upstream regions, the Godavari’s water level is expected to continue its upward trend. The Central Water Commission and the Revenue Department are working together to ensure timely updates and early warnings.
Citizens are advised to stay updated through official channels and avoid venturing near the riverbanks during this period.
