Grace Marks Are Not A Legitimate Aspiration: High Court 

Hyderabad, June 20 (Maxim News):  The petitioners (MBBS students) do not have the legal right to demand grace marks.  However, the High Court has issued orders to the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Kaloji Health University to examine the master of adding grace marks to them given their special circumstances.

According to the Medical Council of India Regulations on Graduate Medical Education-1997 (Old Regulations), a maximum of 5 grace marks can be awarded to students who have passed in all subjects and failed in one subject  However, this grace marks regulation was amended in 2023 and removed. 

Many MBBS students have filed separate petitions in the High Court, claiming that they will be admitted to MBBS in 2022.  It does not apply to those who joined the course before the new regulation was introduced.  A bench of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar, recorded the arguments, however, given the special circumstances of this case, the High Court ordered Kaloji Health University to examine the matter.  (Maxim News)
