Harish opens three meals a day scheme for patients in 18 govt hospitals
Three Meals A Day Scheme | Health Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday inaugurated a program to provide meals to patients in the morning, afternoon and night in the 18 government hospitals under GHMC limits.
Every day, some 20,000 people would have food three times. In this connection, an agreement has been signed with the Hare Rana Hare Krishna organization. The State government would spend Rs 21 per plate. Besides, night shelters would come into being shortly, Harish Rao said.
The Health Minister said they have started 40 ICU beds in the Osmania general hospital and 30 more beds would come into being shortly. Harish Rao said the Osmania hospital would be developed in all respect and steps were being taken to provide better treatment to the patients.

He also said at the instance of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao a committee has been constituted for constructing a new building in the Osmania general hospital shortly without any link with the heritage building.
Stating that during the previous united Andhra Pradesh government the ration card holders were supplied with moth-eaten rice, Harish Rao said fine rice was being supplied to the beneficiaries by the Chandrashekar Rao government after formation of separate Telangana State.
He also pointed out that now the students were being given fine rice food in BC and SC hostels in Telangana State. He also said old age persons were being disbursed Rs 2016 pension and the KCR government introduced Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes to help poor people, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali said the attenders of patients in the government hospitals were being provided tiffin, lunch and dinner in the government hospitals. He also said the patients and their attendant coming from other States were being given food at Rs 5.
