Harish Rao said the previous BRS government provided Rythu Bandhu support without skipping any agricultural season. However, he alleged that the present Congress government skipped the farmer assurance scheme for three seasons. Therefore, he accused the government of neglecting commitments made to farmers.

He recalled that Congress leaders had promised Rs 15,000 per acre under Rythu Bandhu during the election campaign. He said the promise also appeared in the party manifesto. Moreover, he pointed out that the amount was later reduced to Rs. 12,000 in the first budget after the elections.

Harish Rao questions farmer promises in budget

Harish Rao said the Chief Minister had earlier demanded Rythu Bandhu support even for a third crop. However, he alleged that the scheme now covers only one crop. Furthermore, he claimed that the government announced loan waivers while failing to deliver the farmer assurance regularly.

He also demanded implementation of the Rs 15,000 per acre support mentioned in the first budget. He said it was disappointing that even budget promises remain unfulfilled. In addition, he alleged that farmer assurance and crop bonuses appear only during election periods.

The former minister said crop insurance mentioned in two earlier budgets was missing in the current budget. He also claimed that a promise to provide Rs 12,000 annually to farm labourers has not been implemented even once. Therefore, he asked the government to clarify its commitment to the agriculture sector.

Harish Rao also questioned the absence of a job calendar mentioned in the previous budget. Meanwhile, he raised concerns about the government’s plan to increase excise revenue from Rs 34,000 crore to Rs 46,000 crore. He asked how such an increase would be achieved.
