Harish Rao Criticizes Telangana Government On Home Guards Promises
Hyderabad, Dec 6 (Maxim News) : Former minister Harish Rao expressed strong anger over the unfulfilled promises made to home guards during the previous Congress government.
Harish slammed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for reportedly disrespecting the home guards with distorted actions despite their crucial role.
On Home Guards Rising Day, Harish Rao conveyed his best wishes to the 15,000 home guards statewide through the ‘X’ platform. He recalled the efforts of the BRS government to recognize their service
Rao cited the January 2025 GO No. 2, which promised families of home guards who died of natural causes compensation of ₹5 lakh. However, no payments have been made even after ten months.
He criticized the government for failing to provide the promised health cards, leading to many home guards dying without timely treatment.
Harish Rao pointed out that apart from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda, home guards in other districts have not received four years’ pending uniform allowances.
Rao accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of forgetting earlier assurances to the home guard families when in opposition and making compassionate appointments after gaining power.
Harish Rao alleged that the Abhayahastam manifesto pledges to address home guards’ problems remain unfulfilled.
Due to delayed salaries, many home guards struggle to pay school fees and house rent. Rao noted over 60 home guards have died in the past two years, mostly from causes other than road accidents, for which no compensation was provided.
He condemned the cancellation of retirement benefits orders and other promised allowances as mere empty words from the government. Rao demanded immediate action from the Telangana government to honor commitments and resolve home guard issues promptly. (Maxim News)
