Hyderabad, Sept.14 (Maxim News): An interesting dialogue took place in the State Legislative Council today between Minister T Harish Rao and Congress Member T Jeevan Reddy on Kaleswaram Irrigation project.
When the Minister alleged that the sin for not getting National status for Kaleswaram project went to the Congress, Jeevan Reddy retorted saying that the facts will come out if a White paper is released on the project. Harish Rao questioned why Pranahita Chevella Project was ignored while giving national project status to Polavaram project, in the State Reorganisation Act.
The Minister also said that the Chief Minister KCR had called on the Prime Minister several times and appealed to him (PM) about Irrigation projects in the State. The state Government had also addressed many letters to the Center in the matter. What more evidence is needed , Harish Rao asked and added that he had already announced the names of Congress leaders who had filed cases in the Courts in regard to irrigation projects.
In reply, Jeevan Reddy said that Congress members had raised questions in the Rajya Sabha about Kaleswaram project. Union Minister had stated in the Rajya Sabha that no requests were made to the Centre (by the State Govt) on according National Status to Kaleswaram project. He expressed concern that ultimately the burden of Kaleswaram project cost is being put on the common man. He advised the Government to see that in future financial burden is not put on the common man. (Maxim News)
