HC adjourns Raja Singh’s PD Act case to Oct. 28
Hyderabad, Oct.20 (NSS): The Telangana High Court today adjourned hearing of PD Act case against BJP MLA T. Raja Singh till October 28. The court passed the orders after the State government sought some more time to file its counter in the issue. The HC expressed its anger over the non filing of the counter by the State government so far.
Responding to the comments of the HC, the counsel for the State government told the HC that it had prepared a counter of 1650 pages in the case and added that attestation of the authorities concerned on the counter was still pending. He sought one week time to prepare the entire counter. Following this, the HC adjourned the case for one more week and posted the matter to October 28, 2022.
Usha Bai, wife of Raja Singh filed the petition urging the HC to quash the order of the invocation of the PD Act by city police against her husband. In her petition, she told the HC that the city police had illegally arrested her husband and added that the police had violated several rules while invoking the PD Act. The BJP high command also suspended Raja Singh from the party following his controversial comments against Islam Prophet Mohammad. He was arrayed by the police on August 26 under the PD Act. (NSS)
