HC Quashes Govt Decision To Build New Assembly At Errum Manzil

Hyderabad, Sept.16 (Maxim News): In a setback to the State government, the High Court today quashed the decision of the government to build a new Assembly building complex on the premises of Errum Manzil building.

The court heard the cases filed against the State government’s decision to shift the Assembly from existing premises and build a new one at Errum Manzil by demolishing the existing structures. After hearing all the parties concerned in the cases, the court delivered its decision against the government’s decision to raze the historic structures of Errum Manzil to build new buildings for Assembly.

The court directed the State government not to demolish the existing structures at both the places. The court also observed that the decision taken by the cabinet does not come under purview of the Act.

It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has planned to build a new Assembly at Irraum Manzil at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore and allocated Rs 400 crore for building new Secretariat by demolishing the existing one near Tank Bund. (Maxim News)
