What the Vigilance Probe Discovered

•The Telangana Vigilance Commission found that Rao and other office-bearers had pressured IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for additional tickets—beyond the agreed 10%—including tickets for personal sale .

•During a match, members of the HCA allegedly locked a corporate box to coerce SRH into conceding more tickets .

CID Takes Action

Acting on these credible findings, the CID registered an FIR against Jagan Mohan Rao and other HCA officials for alleged misuse of authority, black-marketing of tickets, and governance lapses.

Rao was subsequently arrested during the inquiry.

Background of Ongoing Concerns

•This isn’t the first set of allegations against the HCA. In the previous IPL season, SRH formally objected to what they termed “intimidation, coercion and blackmail” by the HCA leadership—particularly targeting Rao—for free tickets. The franchise even warned it might relocate out of Hyderabad because of the continued unrest .

•The vigilance report also uncovered broader patterns of mismanagement and favoritism in HCA operations ().
