Heatwave Intensifies As Temperatures Soar In Telangana

Hyderabad, May 23: Telangana continues to reel under severe heatwave conditions as scorching temperatures and dry winds affected several districts across the state on Friday. Meteorological experts warned that the intensity of the heat is likely to remain high in many regions over the next 24 hours.

Weather expert Weather Man Balaji stated that several districts may witness extreme heatwave conditions with temperatures ranging between 43 degrees Celsius and 46 degrees Celsius.

The rising temperatures coupled with hot winds have made daytime conditions unbearable, forcing people to remain indoors during peak afternoon hours.

Heatwave alert for multiple districts

According to weather forecasts, severe heatwave conditions are expected in districts including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Khammam and Suryapet.

Officials warned that exposure to direct sunlight during afternoon hours may increase the risk of dehydration and heatstroke, especially among elderly citizens, children, outdoor workers, and farmers.

Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel between 11 AM and 4 PM.

Thunderstorms likely in southern Telangana

While northern and eastern districts continue to face extreme heat, some parts of southern and western Telangana may receive relief in the form of evening thunderstorms.

Weather experts predicted chances of thunder, lightning, and light rainfall in districts including Narayanpet, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal, Nagarkurnool and Sangareddy during evening and night hours.

The rainfall activity may provide temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave conditions in these regions.

Hyderabad may witness dry weather

In Hyderabad, weather conditions are expected to remain mostly dry, although some areas may witness light rain or cloudy conditions later in the evening.

The city has been experiencing high daytime temperatures and warm nights over the past few days, leading to discomfort among residents.

Authorities issue public advisory

Health officials advised people to consume adequate water, ORS, buttermilk, and fresh fruits to stay hydrated during the ongoing heatwave.

Doctors also recommended wearing light cotton clothes and avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely as Telangana continues to experience one of the harshest summer phases this season.
