Heavy Flood In Nizamsagar Reservoir; 24 Gates Lifted Up

Nizamsagar/Hyderabad, Aug 28 (Maxim News): Heavy rains in Kamareddy district have caused a huge inflow of flood water from the upper reaches of the Nizamsagar reservoir. Kamareddy CE Srinivas said that 24 gates were lifted and 1,99,244 cusecs of water were released into the Manjeera River after 2,31,363 cusecs of flood water entered from the upper reaches on Thursday morning.

The project’s full water level is 1,405 feet (17,802 TMC), but it is currently 1,404 feet (16,472 TMC). People, farmers, and cattle herders in the river basin area should be alert and advised not to enter the Manjeera River. Farmers have suffered severe losses as hundreds of acres of paddy crops were submerged in the respective villages of Nizamsagar, Mohammed Nagar, and Banswada mandals of the Manjira River downstream of the Nizamsagar reservoir. Farmers are expressing their grief over this.

On the other hand, the flood flow has also increased in the Kaulas Nala reservoir in Jukkal. AE Sukumar Reddy said that six gates are being lifted and flood water is being released into the lower Manjira. He said that due to heavy rains in the upper reaches of the reservoir in Karnataka and Maharashtra, an inflow of 30,682 cusecs is coming. He said that water is being released into the lower Manjira through six gates. While the full water level of the project is 458 meters and has a water storage capacity of 1,237 TMC, it is stated that the water level is currently 457.80 meters, and 1,188 TMC of water is stored.  (Maxim News)
