Heavy Rains: CM KCR Directs Officials to be on Alert
Hyderabad: With heavy rains lashing across the State resulting in heavy inflows into the irrigation projects including Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) and other water bodies, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the elected representatives and the government officials to take precautionary measures on war footing as water levels are rising in Godavari River.
He instructed Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy to remain on alert and take precautionary measures in the wake of heavy rains in Nizamabad district especially Balkonda constituency.
The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to deploy NDRF teams immediately as several parts of Nirmal town was inundated.
He asked the Collectors, Superintendents of Police and Revenue as well as Roads and Buildings department officials in the districts along the Godavari River banks, to take precautionary measures to prevent any inconvenience to the people.
He also advised the people residing in villages and towns in the Godavari River catchment areas not to venture out of their houses and take all precautions as several streams and rivulets were in full spate.
