High Court Issued Notices To Both Centre And State Govts To Reply Within 4 Weeks In Phone Tapping Case

Hyderabad, June 5 (Maxim News): High Court of Telangana expressed its concern over the tapping of phones of political opponents as well as judges of the High Court during the previous BRS government headed by the then Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao. It is said that this is not a common issue and it is an invasion of personal privacy.

Addressing to the Central government, it has commented that this is a matter that needs to be taken seriously. Moreover, it has been declared as an item of National. Notices have been issued to the both Central and State governments on the matter of phone tapping. Ordered to file counters with complete details within 4 weeks. It is known that based on the statement given by the suspended SIB Additional SP Bhujanga Rao, the High Court has taken suo-moto the stories in the newspapers that the phones of the High Court Judges as well as political opponents and private persons have been tapped.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice T. Vinodkumar took up the hearing on this petition. Along with the Centre, notices have been issued to the Chief Secretary of the State government, Chief Secretary of the Home Department, DGP, Additional DGP of the Intelligence Department and others.

Addressing Deputy Solicitor General G. Praveen Kumar, it is necessary to consider this seriously. On behalf of the state government, Additional Advocate General Mohammad Imran Khan agreed with this and said that the government is also taking it seriously and investigating. At this stage, senior Advocate and former Advocate General K.Kama Krishna Reddy interved and said that this not a matter under the purview of the state, but the Telegraph Act is under the purview of the Centre. He said that this issue should be brought to the attention of the committee formed according to the verdict given by the Supreme Court in the PUCL case. The bench intervened on this and said that no instructions are necessary at this stage. The Central and State governments can cooperate with the court after responding. Those who cannot give orders in one day on a matter taken as sue-moto. Directing the respondents to file counters, the hearing was adjourned to July 3.  (Maxim News)
