High Court order slap on the face to CS: says Gudur

Hyderabad, Nov. 1(Maxim News) : Bharatiya Janata Party state senior leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Monday stated that stay order being issued by the High Court on the internal note of Chief Secretary on RTI replies was a slap on the face for the CS.

He said that it was a shame on Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar as his order has been stayed by the High Court. “Kudos to the Chief Justice of High Court of Telangana for protecting the Right to Information Act in the state,” he said in a media statement.

He said that the wicked plans of the government to throttle the RTI Act have been thwarted by the court. The attempt to muzzle the RTI Activists has been prevented by the Chief Justice of High Court.

He said that Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar has issued an internal note to all the Public Information Officers on October 13 directing them not to give replies to RTI queries without the permission of secretaries of the departments.

Narayana Reddy said that through this order the government wanted to deny replies to queries being sought through Right to Information Act. It does not want to be exposed by the information collected through the RTI Act. It wanted to see that information which does not harm the interests of the government only should go out.

The BJP leader said that government has been indulging in corrupt and illegal activities in the past few years. Ruling party leaders have been involving in government affairs and looting the public money and abusing powers.

He said that several RTI activists are exposing the corrupt and illegal activities of the government. The victims of the government’s misdeeds have been seeking information from the concerned departments on various illegal and unauthorized activities.

With this the government has been exposed many times and its integrity has come under question. Victims are also suing the government in the courts with the help of information obtained through the RTI Act. The government was embarrassed by the court orders several times.

He said that in order to save its face the government has opted backdoor methods to deny information through the RTI Act and wanted to cover up its illegal activities.

He said that the order of the Chief Secretary has been opposed by many in the state vehemently. Many people have felt that the order of the CS is nothing but an attempt to kill the RTI Act.

However, the government did not take the order back and forced few advocates and others to knock the doors of the High Court to get justice. He advised that at least now the state government should wake up withdraw the internal note and avoid another embarrassment in the court. (Maxim News)
