High Court stays land allotment to Vellama and Kamma communities

Hyderabad, June 28 (Maxim News): The High Court of Telangana has stayed the government’s allotment of land to Kamma and Velama communities.

The High Court has struck down the casted-wise allocation of lands.  I also commented that allocating like this is a form of possession.  The High Court has issued an interim order not to undertake any construction in those lands.  Later, the next hearing was adjourned to August 2.

In 2021, the KCR government issued a G.O allotting 5 acres of land to the Kamma and Velama communities.  Challenging this, Kakatiya University retired professor Vinayak Reddy approached the High Court.  A bench headed by Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan heard the Public Interest Limited filed by him today.  It said that this G.O. issued by the government on the allotment of lands is contrary to the judgments of the Supreme Court.

It is understandable if lands are given to downtrodden communities.  On this occasion, the High Court recalled the cancellation of the land allotment to the Saisindhu Foundation.  It has been clarified that the stay will continue till further orders. The High Court allowed Kammam Sandham to file a counter on this. (Maxim News)
