Hindi Sega Hits Maharashtra: We Are Hindus, Not Hindi, Says Raj Thackeray
Mumbai/Hyderabad, April 18 (Maxim News): Several states are opposing the central decision to make Hindi compulsory in all schools across the country. Tamil Nadu, which is very fond of the language, has been opposing it from the beginning, but this controversy has now touched Maharashtra as well. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray has expressed his anger over the decision to implement Hindi as a third language in schools. He said, ‘We are Hindus, Not Hindi.’
The Maharashtra government has issued orders to teach Hindi as a third language in primary schools as part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP); MNS president Raj Thackeray opposed this decision. ‘We are Hindus. But not Hidi. If you try to paint Maharashtra with Hindi, there will be a fight in the state. Looking at all this, it is clear that the government is doing this deliberately. Is this all an attempt to create differences between Marathi and Non-marathi in the upcoming elections and gain benefits?’ he questioned.
Meanwhile, Raj Thackeray said that Hindi is not the national language. Then why should Hindi be taught in primary schools to students in Maharashtra? He said in X post, “Limit your three language formula to government affairs. Don’t bring it into education.

There has been linguistic regionalization in this country. This has been going on for many years. Why are you now imposing the language of another region in maharashtra? The principle of linguistic regionalization will be damaged.” (Maxim News)
