virudhunagar/Hyderabad, April 13 (Maxim News): A massive explosion occurred at the Exel FireWorks fireworks manufacturing facility in Sattur, Virudh Nagar district of Tamil Nadu. The explosion immediately caused a fire in the factory. Immediately, thick smoke filled the surrounding areas. Vehicles parked near the factory were burnt in the incident. Firefighters reached the spot on receiving information and are putting out the fire. The seriously injured workers have been taken to the hospital.
The blast completely destroyed five rooms in the factory. Locals say that 60 people were inside at the time of the explosion. It seems that the explosion occurred while crackers were being made in the factory. Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. Five fire engines are being used to douse the fire. Officials believe that the number of dead and injured could be higher as locals say that there are workers in the factory. (Maxim News)
