Huge Jobs In Railways: Union Minister Announces More Than 1.2 Lakh Vacancies

Delhi/Hyderabad, Dec 6 (Maxim News): Union Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnav made a key announcement in the winter session of Parliament.  he said that the recruitment process has been initiated to fill 1,20,579 vacancies in Indian Railways for the years 2024-2025.  He said that in the last 11 years, the Railways has giv en 5.08 lakh jobs, which is much more than the 4.11 lakh jobs given in the previous ten years.

The ministry said that due to the vast network, constant work, requirements and wide scope of the railways, recruitments will continue continuously.  These posts will be filled as per the requirements of the respective departments in line with changes in technology, use of machines and safety standards.

In 2024, Indian Railways released ten key Employment Advertisements for 92,000 posts.  These mainly include level-1 posts such as Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs), Technicians, RPF Sub-inspectors, Constables, Junior Engineers, NTPC posts, and Track Maintainers. have also been completed.  Recruitment for level-1 posts with more than 32,000 vacancies began in November 2025.  The Physical Ability Test for 4208 RPF Constables has also begun.  So far, the selection process for more than 23,000 candidates in key security-related departments has been completed.

The Railways has already issued seven advertisements for 28,483 posts for the year 2025.  The ministry has clarified that all the examinations are being conducted impartially and transparently and there are no reports of paper leaks or irregularities.  

To make the recruitment process easier, an annual recruitment calendar has also been introduced from 2024.  This will provide clear information to the candidates about the timing of examinations, training and recruitment.  Temporary contract jobs are only for essential work and they will not become regular jobs.  All these details were given by Ashwini Vaishnav in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.  (Maxim News)
