The victim had registered his name on a popular matrimonial website for his marriage. There, he met a young woman. She talked to him in a way that made him feel confident and seduced him. After a few days of talking on the phone, she promised the victim that she was making huge profits through crypto currency. The engineer, who blindly believed her, started investing through the links she sent. As the profits were visible on the screen, the victim transferred a total of Rs. 54 lakhs in 29 installments through various bank accounts.

The victim, who thought that he had made a profit on his investment, tried to withdraw the amount. However, the young woman and the website administrators asked him to pay some ‘additional fee’ to withdraw the money. The victim, who had already suffered a huge loss, immediately approached the cybercrime police, realizing that he had been cheated. The police registered a case and started an investigation.
