Hyderabad: 16 Injured in Swimming Pool Electrocution Accident

Hyderabad, July 12: Sixteen people were seriously injured from an electric shock on Thursday evening while swimming at a farmhouse in Jalpally, Pahadishareef in Hyderabad.

The incident occurred when a group of 56 people from three families visited the farmhouse for a fun outing from Agapura. During the evening swim, 16 people entered the pool. Suddenly, they were all struck by an electrical current that entered the water.

Among the injured are six women, five children, and three young men. Two individuals, Parvez (19) and Imtiaz (22), are in critical condition after being electrocuted for about two minutes.

The cause of the electrical current is suspected to be faulty wiring for the pool lights. Investigators believe connections were made from an external source rather than a dedicated pool lighting system. It’s thought that a wire became compromised within the pool, causing the electrocution.

As a large number of locals gathered at the scene, the police arrived and initiated an investigation.
