The high-speed train, which originally operated with eight coaches and could accommodate 530 passengers, will now run with a 16-coach configuration, boosting total capacity to 1,128 passengers.

Record-Breaking Demand Prompts Expansion

Train No. 20703/20704—connecting the IT hubs of Hyderabad and Bengaluru—was launched with one Executive Class coach and seven Chair Cars. Since its inception, the train has consistently recorded over 100% occupancy, reflecting its immense popularity among business and leisure travelers.

Recognizing the consistent demand, Indian Railways approved the augmentation of the train with eight more coaches.

New Coach Composition:

  • 14 Chair Cars – Total seating for 1,024 passengers
  • 2 Executive Class Coaches – Seating for 104 passengers

“With the increase in capacity, more rail passengers will be able to enjoy the comfort and speed of the Vande Bharat Express on this key route,” said Sandeep Mathur, General Manager of South Central Railway.

Why the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Route Matters

This route links two of India’s fastest-growing metro cities—Hyderabad, known for its booming tech and pharma industries, and Bengaluru, India’s startup capital and Silicon Valley equivalent. The Vande Bharat Express has become the preferred choice for professionals, students, and tourists traveling between the two cities.
